Because of our intimate venue with limited space, we can't accommodate plus-ones beyond those names listed on the wedding invitation. We appreciate your understanding.
Unfortunately, we cannot host any children at our wedding beyond our immediate family members.
Norfolk is in the NW corner of Connecticut and infrastructure is admittedly scarce. For those in New England we recommend driving. It is about 2.5 hours from both Boston and NYC. If you are flying into town, we suggest trying to get a flight into Bradley Airport just north of Hartford. That is about a 45 minute drive. You can certainly fly into Boston or New York, as well. Metro-North also offers service to Wassaic on the Harlem line or Waterbury on the New Haven line. Both are about a 45 minute drive from Norfolk.
There is parking, but given that it is a small club we ask people to carpool as much as possible. Guests staying at the same inn/hotel/AirBnB should take as few cars as possible. We are also working to organize transportation to the local inns and rentals, so check back in with us!
The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors and the reception will be indoors. Weather in the area is a bit unpredictable year-to-year (last year it was 80 degrees and the year before it was 50).
We ask you to join us in formal attire. We ask that our guests wear a suit and tie, a floor-length gown, tuxedo (if you're feeling particularly fancy), or dressy separates.
We ask that all guests put their phones away from the time they arrive until the end of the ceremony. There will be plenty of pictures from out wonderful photographer and we want her to be able to capture the memories herself! Feel free to take photos and videos during cocktail hour and the reception.
Northwestern CT is certainly rural, but there are still fun things to do if you find yourself with some downtime. Our favorite spot right in town is the Norbrook Farm Brewery. Get a beer, go for hike in the woods, or play with the baby goats! Great Barrington, Massachusetts is about 30 minutes away and is a great town with restaurants, cafés, and a great art scene. Other than those, there are countless trailheads nearby for a short hike, some golf courses in the area, and plenty of exploring to be done.
For those joining us from out-of-town on Friday night, we are hosting a welcome drinks party at Norbrook Brewery starting at 8:15. The wedding party will be coming from the rehearsal dinner so might be delayed, but please enjoy yourselves! Anna's parents will also host a brunch on Sunday morning. Feel free to swing by for a cup of coffee on your way out of town, or stick around all morning!
Good question. For anybody who hasn't been there before, it may seem a bit random. But for Anna's family it has been home base for decades. Anna's grandmother Sukey, and her late grandfather Rodney, started coming to the area before most of us were born. When the McCleans lived abroad in Turkey and Australia, they always returned back to Norfolk before figuring out their next move. More recently, Henry and Anna have spent many weekends at the family home, whether they were relaxing, hosting their annual 4th of July weekend, or helping Joe cut his firewood. On June 14, Henry surprised Anna at the lake house to propose. After all the time and memories, it only felt right to tie the knot there.
