It started when Robert & Stephanie were in kindergarten at Manzanita Elementary school. They had the same teacher, Ms. Kelley. Robert, so wild& fearless always messing around on the monkey bars. Stephanie, always with her sister & girlfriends playing on the playground or playing house. Two kids that grew up together & had many laughs throughout elementary school. When they were in 4th grade he asked Steph to be his girlfriend... blaming it on a dare. Good save. They held hands watching a movie on a rainy day in the cafeteria & one of their classmates told on them. Rob & Steph were supposed to go to McDonalds night, & Steph was so excited she wanted to wear her favorite shirt. It was a blue silk fish shirt that made her look like a walking aquarium. He couldnt make it after all, & the next day she chased him around the big tree. They ended up breaking up because he was getting made fun of for having a girlfriend. Later that year, He stapled his finger. That crazy kid. Steph wanted to walk him to the office. When she got home she made him a get well soon card. But the next day he was running around like everything was fine, so she never gave it to him. She still had a crush on Robert. She loved listening to Mariah Carey “Always be my baby” & “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJ’s. This is back when she would record tapes on the boom box to make a mix tape. They remained friends but ended up going to different middle schools & high schools. He went to Las Palmas & Northview, while she went to Traweek & Covina. They both had pagers and the song “yellow” by Coldplay was on Robert’s, which is why the song will always remind her of him. While Robert skated around on a skateboard, she would watch with her friends. They went with some friends to the movies to see “Shes All That,” & Steph’s grandma drove him home. Robert, played soccer all his life, while Steph played her freshmen year of High school. After she stopped playing, she would go watch him play because he was just so good.
Steph would even go to Robert’s games when he played at Citrus College. Most weekends they would hang out and Robert would message her on AIM while she was on her way to work. He would ask, “What are you up to later?” And she would always reply on her sidekick. They would make plans and always go to king taco and the hookah bar. Steph would hang out with Robert and his Northview friends, and Robert would hang out with Steph and her coworkers. They also shared the same group of friends from Manzanita. There were times when he would go over to Steph’s and just watch Wheel of Fortune with her Grandma while she got ready. When Steph’s grandma passed away, he went to the funeral and it meant the world to her. Funny story about that day is that he took the wrong freeway and it set him back on time, luckily he made it. He did walk in during the Speech Sam & Steph were giving. He sure knows how to make an enterance. They went on many adventures together including nights out in LA eating at Roscoes Chicken & Waffles and going out to 80’s clubs like “beat it.” Rob usually in a members only jacket. Sometimes they would go seek out haunted places, and Steph would be so scared. They had alot of fun together. One night they watched “Don’t be a Menice” late at a friends house, and the next day Steph had to take her driving test. She passed! On Steph’s 18th birthday between taking selfies on the couch he built a can pyramid. It was huge. Then it just disappeared. Someone threw away the cans. Back in the Myspace days, they made sure to be on each others Top 8. One rainy night they went to the Movies to see “Blades of Glory,” then went to dennys to eat some breakfast for dinner. Steph always got a side of hash browns. They would talk and vent about relationships. They really had a connection. They could tell each other anything. That was her guy best friend and she was his girl best friend, and they could really count on each other.
One night, in the summer of 2007 he asked Steph to come over & watch a movie at his house. Usually, they would go out somewhere but this time it was different. Steph had this butterfly feeling in her stomach. She asked him if he could go with her to wash her car first(so random), then they grabbed food, & went to watch the movie. She sat on the bed and he sat on a chair and he was so nervous. They watched “Crocidile Dundee” and he wasn’t laughing at any of the funny parts. Robert finally broke his silence. He said, “So I’ve been doing alot of thinking, and we get along so well, we’re such good friends. I really think we would be great together.” Steph was taken a back. A little shocked. This was the guy she grew up with, her best friend, & she always had a crush on him. I mean come on, hes a stud! She never thought in a million years that he felt the same way. He continued to ramble because he was so nervous. Steph replied also nervous, “I totally agree, we are such good friends and we have a great time together. I would never want to ruin our friendship.” He ensured her that it wouldn’t ruin their friendship and that he was sure it would work out. She continued, “I like you, I’ve always had a thing for you.” Still shocked, and while he was still waiting for an answer. She knew this was it. It was right and he was the guy. This wasn’t going to be some fling. It was serious and it was real, and it gave her butterflies. And Steph finally told him with the biggest smile, “Yeah, lets see where this goes.”
The summer of 2007! What a fun summer that was. So many of their friends told them, “I knew you two would end up together.” After Robert and Stephanie started dating they were even more inseperable. They had their first kiss (both so nervous) during the song, “Hey there delilah.” It was perfect. They would always go to Venice and go to the drum circle blasting Bob marley on the way. She would go with him on weekends to visit his grandparents. They always had such great stories and reminded Steph of her own grandparents. Those lovebirds. They both really valued the kind of relationship their grandparents had with eachother. Steph surprised Robert and they went to their first LA galaxy game together and sported Beckham jerseys because hes the best. They also planned their first camping trip and Sam tagged along. It was fun until they had too many potatoes and onions for breakfast. They also had to keep going to the general store because they forgot to bring basic things like a can opener. They went to a family wedding in October 2007 and robert was the life of thr party. He always caught the garder. That was the first of many garders caught by him over the years. What a fun summer that was, what a fun year. Full of adventures, full of laughter, and full of happiness. Thats how they knew the rest of their life would be together.
The big 10 year anniversary trip. Steph had been so excited planning this trip because they were to go visit the mighty five national parks of Utah. They both love camping and the great outdoors, so they were really looking forward to it. They started off by visiting Calico ghost town, Las Vegas , and then headed to Utah. The first NP they went to was Capitol Reef NP. Then they drove to Moab and camped there. They had fun visiting the parks and hiking the trails at Canyonlands NP and Arches NP. After that they went to the four corners monumnent. So cool being in 4 states at once. Then they went to Monument Valley. They thought it was so beautiful there. They stood in the exact spot where Forrest Gump stopped running in the movie. From there they went to stay in Page, Az. Steph was so mezmerized by Lake Powell. Its definitely a place they want to visit again. They went to the gorgeous horseshoe bend. Steph loved it! From there they went to Bryce Canyon NP. That sure was a site to see. They then went to Zion NP and Steph was so amazed. Zion was absolutely breathtaking. They set up camp and called it a night since they were planning on getting up early to hike the infamous Angles landing.
It was August 29, 2017, a hot day in summer in Zion NP. Robert and Steph set off to hike Angles Landing. Steph was really scared to do this hike because you have to climb some really narrow areas.. using chains! Robert ensured her to just take her time and they would make it up there. It was a tough hike. When they finally reached the top they took in the beautiful views of Zion. They had a snack and took tons of pictures. Steph was snapchatting and capturing the goregrous views, and Robert said he was going to go check out another area. He went to go find someone to take their picture, when really he was going to have them record a video. He came up to Steph and said he found a cool spot for a photo. Steph didnt really wsnt to bother people because they were also trying to enjoy the views so she thanked the photo guy. He told them to say “cheese.” Then they both replied, “cheese!” Then all of a sudden Robert grabbed his pocked. Steph asked, “what are you doing?” Thinking about this nice camera guy and how he was trying to take their picture and they need to hurry and take this. But then he grabbed out a box. Steph was so confused. That sneaky guy. She said, “oh my gosh. you’re f-ing kidding me right now.” Shocked and shaking she set her stuff down. Robert got on one knee and said, “Stephanie I love you so much, I always have, and I always will. Will you marry me?” Shes laughing and nervous. He grabbed her hand and was shaking so much. Both not knowing how close to the edge they were. She smiled so big and said, “YES! Of course!” Still shaking so much. She bent down to kiss him and they exchanged I love yous. And that was that. The best day ever. P.s. good thing they have it on video :)
