Question

Am I allowed to bring anything?

Answer

Unfortunately Harpor's Vineyard has a strict ban on Outside food and Beverages such as Alcohol. This ban includes the parking lot. Please do not bring any food or drink onto the premises you will be removed as per Harpor's policy. If you require specific dietary needs please include this in your RSVP so we can insure you are fed accordingly. Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal/business casual attire. Sundresses, jumpsuits and dress pants are recommended for women. Suit and tie or khakis and pullovers are recommended for men. Keep in mind that it might be chilly so be sure to bring a cardigan or light jacket.

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

It will be an October wedding in Iowa. Temperatures in Sothern Iowa at this time range from high 60's to mid 30's (Fahrenheit). So please bring a cardigan, light jacket, or shawl to keep warm and opt for sleeves over spaghetti straps. When in doubt, double check the weather for Sunday, Oct. 17th, 2021.

Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?

Answer

Both the ceremony and the reception will be held at Harpor's Vineyard in New Virginia, IA. The Address is bellow: 3014 Scott St, New Virginia, IA, 50210, USA

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, the ceremony will be outdoors on the lawn in front of the vineyard. Dinner will be indoors within the Harpor's Barn and dancing will be held on the heated, covered deck between the two locations. In the event of poor weather- rain, snow, meteorite showers ;) -the ceremony will be moved to the covered deck which is also heated.

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony, the bridal party and immediate family will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can head straight to the covered lounge and bar area where we will have yard games and be serving finger foods and beverages. *Feel free to try your hand at hammerschlagen, a fun traditionally German drinking game (drinks not required).

Does your wedding have a theme?

Answer

While we do not have a set theme you are more than welcome to dress in our wedding colors (burgundy, mauve, spice/orange, mustard yellow, and steel blue or navy), although you are not required to do so.

What should I do if I can’t make it?

Answer

You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend that you arrive an hour before the start of the ceremony, to make sure everyone is on time and we can get the party started as scheduled! There will be activities for you to do while you wait for other guests to arrive and your more than welcome to grab a drink as you wait.

Where should guests park? Is parking free?

Answer

Parking is free and there will be someone at the entrance to help direct you to the parking lot.

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes, children are welcome and there will be a designated kids zone to keep them busy when they get bored plus a fun preteen/young adults table at dinner and fun activities throughout the evening that they are sure to enjoy.

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate the number of seats we have reserved for your family listed on your invitation.

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

Answer

Yes, we do have rooms blocked off for our wedding. We have provided two locations for you to chose from. You can find more information on this under the Directions and Accommodations tab of our website.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?

Answer

The RSVP deadline is August 17th. Yes, we do ask that you mail in your RSVPS. We have provided you with an envelop pre addressed to us and have included all necessary postage. All you need to do is fill out your information, double check it, seal it in the envelope, and place it in your mailbox.

Are the ceremony and reception location wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Our venue is wheelchair accessible and there is a shuttle from the parking lot to the barn upon request. We just ask that you let us know in advance with your RSVPs that you will need wheelchair access and/or a shuttle so that we can plan seating accordingly.

Will food and drinks be served at the reception? What kind of food?

Answer

Yes you will be fed. Popcorn and soft pretzels will be available while the bridal party is taking photos after the ceremony and Street Eats DSM food truck will be available to order from for dinner. The menu will be posted on the truck, and provided in a pamphlet you get during the ceremony along with meal tickets. All you will need to do is pick what you want, go up to the window, hand over your tickets and order. They will fix it up for you. Our menu will be catered towards our guests so there's something available for everyone to enjoy so, please include any and all food restrictions in your RSVP note. *There is a section on your RSVP for any food restrictions that you or your family/pus one has so we can insure that you have something to eat.

Will there be any vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/special diet options?

Answer

Yes. There is a section on your RSVP card where you can fill out any food restrictions such as keto, dairy free, nut allergy and so forth. This will allow us to cater our menu to you as well so that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

Answer

Yes, we encourage guests to post pictures on to their social media channels, our only request is that you tag each photo with our wedding hashtag #ItsSchwarsTime so we can enjoy them also.
