Like any modern romance, it starts with swiping right! As a Tinder success story, we spent the next five years traveling to four different countries, sightseeing in various states, raising two cats and one dog, celebrating career promotions, and everything in between. When looking back on our five years of dating, Becca's favorite thing is definitely the unexpected laughter. "Joe finds the most obscure humor in every day situations that always keeps me on my toes. I can't wait to laugh with him every day for the rest of my life." Joe said looking back, he has come to learn that "Becca is a wonderful partner and it's been amazing to witness her passion and love for her family, friends, and our pets. I love our little family and look forward to our future."
Non-traditionally, we discussed the details over Korean BBQ back in November of 2019 and have been planning ever since. Joe said he sealed the deal after we spent a week with Becca’s mom, Elaine, and sister, Christina, at Walt Disney World! He figured if he could get along with three Faessel women for a week, marrirage will be a piece of cake (ha!). We confirmed all of the details right before the COVID19 pandemic swept the world. Truly nothing like making sure marriage is the right next step by self isolating with your new fiance, dog, and two cats for months! We had decided to keep things very quiet during that time and focus heavily on each other and the life we were going to build together. We are now excited, albeit nervous still about the pandemic, to begin sharing everything with you!
In September, we started to realize our perfect ideal timeline of a private elopement followed by a huge reception with you there to celebrate was really just not going to happen. Instead of forcing our family and friends to make the uncomfortable decision whether or not they would come to our wedding (even if it's legally allowed), we decided to cancel and continue with our private elopement. It's a difficult time, for many of us, for many reasons. We are so thankful that our health and the health of our loved ones remains intact right now. We count our blessings every day. But, still, we're sad. We are sad that our dreams of our wedding and party crumbled, mostly because we are going to miss YOU! We hope that you will take some time to peruse our website here, leave us a virtual message, and still celebrate with us. Near or far, you are in our hearts.
Our dream elopement came true on November 27, 2020 on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Privately, along with our very small team of amazing elopement vendors, we exchanged our heartfelt vows at the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens in front of the most picturesque mountain side. After the ceremony, we took a boat to the Kaneohe Sandbar and played around in the ocean until the sunset. Photos from our day can be found in the photos section of our website. We hope to send you our full wedding video once it's complete, too!
