How we met (Justin POV)

New York City is a crappy place to live if you like tennis. It gets even worse if you don't have any tennis friends. I of course didn't have any. Luckily, I found myself at Moonlight Tennis Club where I went every Sunday to play and head straight home afterwards without talking to anyone. I did notice a pretty person at Moonlight, but she sucked and we were never assigned to the same court. We rode the same car and train a few times, but she doesn't remember me ever being there. When I heard she was playing a lot with a group of friends, I asked one of the friends if I could play too, which took A LOT OF COURAGE. I got turned down saying the tennis level is too low and I would be bored...like I was asking for high quality tennis. Eventually I got a chance to sit in front of her at a tennis dinner, and asked to play together some time. We scheduled a tennis session right away, and that's how it all started. Also, at the dinner, she kept giving me meat. More and more meat. It was love.

Proposal (Helen POV)

A few days before our trip to Barcelona, I accidentally saw that Justin had booked a photoshoot. My female intuition immediately kicked in, and I fell straight down the rabbit hole. The perfect proposal, the perfect moment, the perfect day. But the excitement did not last long. Before I could say anything, Justin casually mentioned that he had booked the photoshoot just in case, but that the ring would not be ready in time. “Okay,” I said, hiding my disappointment as I walked to the closet to pick out a dress for the shoot. On the day of the photoshoot, our photographer led us to a beautiful corner of the Gothic Quarter and mentioned, “This is where a lot of couples get proposed to.” I later learned that was the signal. He asked me to take solo shots first, but strangely kept wanting photos of my back. All along, he was quietly buying Justin time. After a few shots, Justin walked over and gently placed his AirPods in my ears. "A Thousand Years" started playing. Even then, I had no idea. I thought this was just one of his thoughtful gestures, trying to help me relax during the shoot. He then took my hands, looked into my eyes, and with his shaking voice whispered, “Jagiya, I have been thinking a lot about this moment, and I am so nervous.” My heart skipped a beat. Oh My God. Is this really happening? Pleasantly shocked and somewhat overwhelmed, exactly two drops of tears rolled down my left cheek. It was a strange, beautiful feeling, as if everything around us had blurred and we were deeply connected to each other’s emotions. When I finally came back to my senses, Justin was down on one knee, and something very shiny caught my eye. “Yes, yes!” I said, squeezing his hands and pulling him into my arms. In that moment, we made our promise with this small (and expensive) rock, which I treasure every single day since.

The Present

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why they call it the present." -Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)- Now we’re planning our wedding and can’t wait to celebrate with all of you! Thank you for being part of our journey.
