Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO)
The best airport is to fly into San Jose, Costa Rica. From the airport, there are 2 options to get to Santa Teresa: Driving or Flying. By Air: There are 2 main airlines that operate from SJO, total air time is around 20 mins to Tambor. You can either take a taxi or rent a car from the airport to get to Santa Teresa/MalPais Beach. 1. SANSA www.flysansa.com 2. Nature Air www.natureair.com 3. If traveling with a group of 2 or more, we can also arrange a charter plane for the group which may be more affordable. Driving: Total driving time is around 5 hours, but I recommend if you have the time, the drive is very scenic. Once you arrive at SJO airport, rent a car from the airport (make sure to rent a 4x4) to drive to Puntarenas (1.5 hr drive). From Puntarenas, take the ferry to the port of Santa Teresa (1.5 hrs). The drive from the port to the beach around 1.5 hrs. The roads aren’t paved once you get to the Puntarenas area so quite bumpy but super fun!

The daily rate is $375 per night with a min stay of 7 nights. Playa cielo is also known for the fun parties they throw on the beach.
