For those who arrive days early or want to stay a few days later, we would recommend you drive to Long Beach (only 22mins away from LAX) and take the ferry to Catalina Island. It's a great day getaway on a little tourist island that feels like you left the city entirely. It's a fun great adventure that can be done in one day or you can also book a room and stay overnight in one of the island hotels.
