BUT! Because the pandemic shortened the guest list and kept big deposits- we’re keeping the damn party! We’re excited to celebrate our one year anniversary with a vow renewal, dinner and reception. Soo.. yeah, a 2nd wedding. 2020 left us with no rules and a real itch to celebrate with ALL of you!! Can’t wait to see you in Monterey for the happily ever after party. **let’s all put on a good show for the videographer** -Tyler & Hope
By now, everyone has received our sour news of postponing the BIG wedding celebration. Due to unforeseen circumstances of the pandemic, we made the difficult decision to move our big blowout party to next year. It is incredibly important to us both that our family and friends remain safe and healthy. Our original date is very special to us and we plan to marry with just our parents, siblings and bridal party as witnesses this year. We cannot wait to celebrate and shake things up with everyone in the Fall of 2021!! More details to follow! Be well, H&T
So, the story goes like this; Hope was working nights waiting tables at Iron Horse Tavern in Downtown Sacramento when Tyler arrived in town. He took a position working on the Sacramento King's new project, The Golden1 Center. On a chance night out to dinner with friends, Hope waited on Tyler's table. Everyone seemed to know her except Tyler and amidst the rush of a Friday night, failed to introduce the two. After a few lewd jokes and easy conversation, Hope left the table and left Tyler wondering (and asking).... “what's her deal?" He was in luck! The table of friends, indeed, knew her well and they (kindly) reported she had been single for some time!! They decided to orchestrate a group sushi date for casual introductions. Tyler was handsome, polite and took Hope by surprise. Hope was, well, herself - the social butterfly, a little loud, and clumsy in the cutest way. After *demanding* the group drink a round of traditional Sake Bombs, Hope managed to shatter her beer glass almost immediately. She was embarassed and Tyler was hooked! He offered up his sake bomb, ordered up another round with a smile and asked her on their first solo date the following night.
We took an adventurous getaway to Tulum, Mexico and wanted to spend one evening at Azulik- a chic, sustainable resort that runs off candlelight. Say it with us... MAGICAL. After biking the 20 minutes from our bungalow to the resort, we quickly realized we weren’t in compliance with their dress code!! Hope was ready to throw in the towel and find another spot but Tyler insisted he put on his hero cape and make the trek to the bungalow and back for the correct clothes. “It would only take a minute...” 45 minutes later..... Tyler made it!! He found Hope waiting patiently, and alone; the resort had reached capacity for dinner but Hope suckered her way into the host's heart (per usual) and was promised entry to the bar upon Tyler's return. Now, when we say Ty was sweating from his journey, what we mean is...he looked like he stepped out of the ocean- beet red face, fully drenched!! Biking against the wind in 95 degree heat and humidity doesn’t do anyone any favors. We did a quick open-air costume change worthy of sports illustrated and paid a modest fee before climbing bamboo stairs to paradise. We ordered water for the superhero, along with MANY napkins and a couple of cocktails before finding a seat in the nets and watching the jungle. After a few standard "insta-worthy" photos, Tyler employed a sweet traveler to take one of us both. She snapped a few before asking Tyler’s approval. He kindly replied, "just one more if you wouldn't mind". In that moment, Tyler popped down on one knee!! He asked and Hope said... “are you for real!?” (and... YES!!!)
