Unless you’d like to count the sandbox that our parents assume we played together in, at Elizabeth and Michele’s soccer games, Morgan and I met on a Thursday night in mid September of 2016....at a bar. There was a joint birthday party for two of our friends at Draught, near uptown Charlotte, and despite both of us not totally wanting to go out, our friends convinced us. I first saw Morgan across the bar and immediately asked a buddy what her name was, to which he responded, “That’s Morgan, you’re gonna have to work for that one.” Before I could even respond another friend of mine yelled her name from across the bar to call her over, and no, he had no clue who Morgan was at the time. With no introduction of his self he said, “Have you met Kyle?” Morgan and I hung out for most of the night after that and when I went home I sent her a text to make sure she got home alright. Although only about 4 of the 50 words were legible, Morgan for some reason decided to go on a first date with me.
Kyle and I planned on meeting Seth, Michele and Graham in Freedom Park for a walk before brunch. We found a spot to wait for them by the water. Kyle told me he loved me like he has done a million times before and I thought nothing of it until he got down on one knee. I couldn’t get the word “yes” out fast enough so I just shook my head and continued to cry. Kyle and I were both shaking so much that we struggled to even get the ring on. A large group of people walking by saw this and started cheering as Michele, Seth, Graham (and Sammy on FaceTime) jumped out of the bushes to take pictures. We went to Olde Mecklenburg Brewery to celebrate this special day where Kyle surprised me with some of our family and friends gathered to celebrate. This was when I truly lost it and everything became so real! I found myself so lucky and blessed to have so many incredible people in our lives that came to celebrate with us. Family is the most important thing to Kyle and I, so having them a part of this made it all the more special! We are looking forward to celebrating with everyone in April!
