Things To Do

Take an Architecture Boat Tour

This is a must-do! Even with both of us living in Chicago for nearly a decade, we try to do this every summer. It's our favorite tourist recommendation when friends come into town. For a truly unforgettable experience, hop on an architecture boat tour (many depart from the Riverwalk AND make sure it specifies "architecture" in the listing) to learn about the incredible buildings from a unique perspective on the water.

Stroll the Riverwalk

We absolutely love the Chicago Riverwalk in the summer. Take a stroll down the iconic Chicago River, with incredible close-up views of its world-renowned architecture. Grab a drink and enjoy the views from Tiny Tapp and City Winery. In the evenings, you might even catch Art on theMART, the world's largest digital art projection, illuminating the Merchandise Mart building right across the river.

Visit The Art Institute of Chicago

111 S Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603

One of Nick's favorite Sunday activities as a member of 8 years, the Art Institute is one of the world's leading art museums. Nick actually took Heidi on one of their first dates to show off his impressive rehearsed knowledge of the collection. It boasts an incredible collection spanning centuries and continents, from Impressionist masterpieces to modern art and historic artifacts. It's a fantastic way to spend a few hours escaping the summer heat.

Experience a Rooftop Bar with Skyline Views

Chicago's summer evenings are perfect for enjoying a drink with a view. Downtown offers numerous fantastic rooftop bars, many with breathtaking panoramic vistas of the skyline and Lake Michigan. It's a great way to unwind and take in the city's beauty. Our favorites are: The London House for River and City views, Cindy's for Lake and Millennium Park (The Bean) views, Z Bar (in the famous Peninsula Hotel) for an upscale drink on the Mag Mile.

Go to a Cubs Game at Wrigley Field

1060 W Addison Street, Chicago, IL 60613

The Cubs are playing a few home games during our wedding weekend! They will be playing the Blue Jays on Friday, June 19th at 1:20pm, Saturday (our wedding day!), June 20th at 1:20pm, and Sunday, June 21st at 1:20pm. Wrigley Field is an incredibly iconic ballpark. It is in the center of the Wrigleyville neighborhood which is worth checking out even if you don't get tickets for the game. Great people watching and casual rooftop bars! Our favorite spots are Moe's Cantina, Old Crow Smokehouse, and Happy Camper. Check out Slugger's for batting cages! Wrigley is very easy to access from the Sheraton Hotel. A quick train ride on the Red Line up to the Addison stop.

See Morgan Wallen at Soldier Field

1410 S. Museum Campus Drive, Chicago, IL 60605

For our country lovers, Morgan Wallen will be playing during our wedding weekend at Solider Field! He plays Friday and Saturday night (sorry, you're busy Saturday!) and Soldier Field is steps away from our wedding venue so maybe if we are lucky he will stop by for a drink!
