Heidi and Adam met on a blind date set up by their mutual hospital coworkers. Heidi’s coworkers said they had found her the perfect guy and strongly encouraged both to give each other a first date. After a few text messages were exchanged, the date took place at Cheddars for dinner with DQ ice cream as dessert. Adam actually got down on one knee and proposed on the very first date! His father had always told him that if he ever found a woman who loved “The Lord of the Rings” as much as he did, to propose to her on the spot…which he did. It was a hard “No” from Heidi. The second proposal came two years later…that one was an easy yes! Our relationship grew over a mutual love of motorcycles, hunting, hiking, and spending time with our families. We have a shared goal to be shaped into the people God desires us to be… which governs our decisions and direction in life. We enjoyed getting to know each other doing the things we both loved. Plus, the uniqueness of sharing the same occupation helped us grow a strong connection. Over the last three years we have made many wonderful memories together, which has included going through some difficult times, sharing the ups and downs of life and being there for each other every step of the way. The proposal weekend came as a complete surprise! The weekend was reserved for Adam’s grandpa’s birthday celebration. We were going to Adam’s parents’ house early that day to hang out and take a tour of his cousin’s newly purchased land. I am not typically someone who wears makeup or does their hair but by some stroke of luck, I put on makeup, curled my hair but put on the same baggy hoodie, and riding jeans I usually wear. I kept telling Adam I wanted to wear my muck boots, but he was strangely persistent that I would not need them. Arriving at his parents’ house, I did take note how well dressed his parents were but figured a birthday party was a good reason to dress up! We loaded up on the 4x4 and away we went. We headed down the road on a crisp beautiful autumn day. During the ride I made the comment that Megan’s ring looked so sparkly in the sun as I laughingly stuck out my hand and said, “but my hand doesn’t have any shiny things on it.” The group chuckled, but little did I know I was about 10 mins away from that all being changed! We were riding along a fence line and came up on a part of the trail that had been washed out. Adam said there was a deer stand around the corner that we needed to look at, Braden suggested that we get out and walk the rest of the way. He said he would pick us up on the other side. Adam, myself, and the dog jump out of the 4x4 and proceed on our own. As we walked down the trail, Adam took my hand in a death grip. I struggled to keep up with his pace. In just a few minutes I looked up to see where a tree had fallen over and had created a natural arch. Underneath the arch lay a rug and a wooden podium. The Podium was surrounded by a variety of beautiful mums and on the podium was a little wooden box. A banner hung over the arch blowing in the breeze with the words, “Marry Me”. And in a matter of minutes my hand had one of those “shiny things” I had joked about earlier! Adam’s brother and sister were hiding in the distance taking pictures. The surprise got even better when we drove back to Adam’s parents’ house and my entire family plus a few close friends were waiting for us! Adam pulled off a very special engagement that was perfect for both of us. We continued the celebration between the two families with food, games and a bonfire. We are so honored and blessed to have wonderful friends and family in our lives to support and guide us in this next chapter of our lives. We hope you can join us on our day of love, laughter and celebration!!!
