Unfortunately with Block Island being such a popular destination spot during the summer months, the hotels do not offer discounted wedding blocks. Instead, as a courtesy to the bride and groom and their invited guests, the hotels have allowed the Bride and Groom to reserve the lower rate rooms for their guests to have priority and choose from first. To receive the lower rates, please call the hotels (National Hotel or Spring House Hotel) and mention the "Harris/Ivakhnyuk" wedding.
Hahaha - funny story. Come to the wedding and maybe we will tell it. If you miss the ferry, you can visit the National Hotel and speak with the front desk. They usually keep a select amount of rooms available for guests of the island who miss their ferry back. The ticketing office of the Block Island Ferry usually honors tickets that have not been used from missed transportation.
Some stores on Block Island are cash-only, most restaurants, hotels and tourist shops do take either cash or credit, but it's best to come prepared for both options!
It's a good idea to pack your suitcase like you'll be visiting a beach. A swim suit, sun screen, aloe, flip-flops or sandals, a sweatshirt or light jacket in case it gets breezy, shorts, and sweatpants. If you will be consuming adult beverages, please bring a valid ID. You may want to consider bringing a beach towel as well unless if you'd like to purchase a beach towel or sunglasses at one of the many vendors along the main road.
If you're getting to the island early, you may need to make a reservation at a few of the fancier restaurants on the island, but Block Island offers a lot of options for walk-in and sit-down meals, or even takeaway windows.
Block Island, RI has resolved any travel restrictions. The only requested health concern is to please wear a mask while on board the Block Island Ferry or New England Airline charter flight. Hotels, restaurants, and in-door centers on the island have lifted all mandates and welcome all visitors, please check with your hotel for more information.
