Hed and Jess have been friends since 2017, but grew closer during the pandemic. Hed supported Jess and his two cats during a difficult period in 2020, and the two began their romantic relationship and moved in together later that year. Since then, they have traveled, spent time with family and friends, and cultivated their careers, educational pursuits, and myriad hobbies, supporting and enriching each other at each step of the way. Last April, they were engaged privately and started planning their wedding in earnest. Hed and Jess embody two sides of a brilliant, rare coin -- Hed steers Jess's wild energy with love and grace; Jess dutifully and eagerly dotes upon Hed and indulges their deepest whims and desires. They have created a home rich with art, incredible culinary feats, and love for their community and Siamese cats, Bao and Sadie. It is with deepest regrets that they are not able to feed the entire party their homemade NYC-style pizza, but extend invitations to each attendee to come dine at their Massachusetts residence any time. On April 1, 2023, Hed and Jess pledged their devotion, commitment, and love to each other on a shockingly breezy day in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a private ceremony at the Neon Museum surrounded by their parents and siblings, with several days of festivities to follow all around the Strip, bracketed by several José Andrés restaurants, wedding cakes by Dominique Ansel, a visit to a massive botanical garden, and endless love and excitement. Hed's dress was procured mere feet from their apartment, a stunningly preserved silk gown from the late 1940s, and meticulously reconditioned with contemporary lace and 27 buttons with Hed's expertise. Jess designed his suit with Reigner Clothing (Brisbane, QLD) in pure Elvis blue with just a touch of fringe. Oh, and Flava Flav and most of Breaking Bad were there, too, but ended up bowing out of the ceremony so as not to draw attention from the happy couple. Now that the newlyweds are back East, we want to welcome our celebration to all our loved ones, colleagues, friends, and family members from near and far in beautiful York, ME. Graciously hosted at the McCarthy Estate, home of Mark and Robin McCarthy, we will dance under the stars and celebrate with brunch, snacks, plenty of sweets, and rumor has it, Martha Stewart's wedding cake may make an appearance. Come wear your favorite blues in honor of Jess's psychedelic Elvis-inspired suit and enjoy the beautiful weather with us!
