I was working out at the Crossfit gym close to my house in the summer where I befriended two awesome women: Ginger & Dre in my 5:30am class. I was NOT interested in getting to know someone else, to be honest. For a whole month Ginger kept telling me about her brother who she SWORE reminded her of me. She said things like, "The way you talk and process reminds me a lot of my brother! You would LOVE him! Even if its just a friendship! He loves Jesus!" So I kept saying no for a full month until finally I saw a picture of him with his two boys on facebook and thought, "Okay- now that's HOT *clears throat* SWEET." Matthew reached out to me a month later and was VERY intentional and VERY clear about his intentions since day 1. Date #3 was when the Holy Spirit shifted things and made it clear- we knew the Lord was doing something special and speaking to both of our hearts. One random weekend, towards the beginning of our relationship, Ginger invited both of us to her lake house where I would meet his boys for the first time and get to see him as "dad." This was also good for him to see me for the first time around his boys. That weekend was all orchestrated by the Holy Spirit because Hudson, 8 yr old, handed me a pinecone with a flower sticking out of it and formally asked me if I would go on a "dinner date" with his dad. They set up a table on the dock and Cooper (6yr old) blew bubbles in the wind. They placed the pinecone as the center piece on our table and they played music on a bluetooth speaker to set the ambiance. We laughed so hard! That evening Hudson proceeded to ask me if I would be his father's girlfriend to which I said yes! To this day he'll ask us at random times during car rides or when we're all together, "Dad-aren't you glad I got you a wife?! You deserve it!" Hudson still believes it was his doing- nothing we could have planned! We entered that weekend planning to introduce me as "Auntie Ginger's friend" and left as "Daddy's princess flower cutie."
