The Big Question

Before I met you The world was painted on a dusty frame The waters were murky, full of silt and sediment The clouds were like a chain locked tight across the sky And the trees were solemn giants who stood watch menacingly over a desolate land The palette was monochrome, drab and dull And I feared I lost privilege to the colors who’s echos rang in my memory Like lost bats in a cave Before I met you, words had no meaning, Or if they did, I could not understand them Because no matter what I said, heard, or thought Nothing made sense But then like a match lighting in a cave A gentle spark burst into flames And the fire began to spread Quickly transforming all the gray Bright blue diamonds in the sky Dripped down to rivers flowing by Towering giants once so stern Peered down now joyous at green ferns The clouds once tightened like a snake Uncoiled now to new days break Nothing ever seemed so clear Like fine crystal chandeliers Words with meanings once unknown Draft new stories of my own Mine to write but not alone I must share this loving tome 4 years I’ve waited, 4 words to speak Heather, will you marry me?
