Chris was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain to a Spanish father and Filipino mother. As a teen, Chris and his mom immigrated to the United States and lived in Taunton, Massachusetts just outside of Boston. After high school, he attended Boston University where he studied criminal justice. Upon graduating BU, he joined the Marines as an Officer. He then went on to become a Marine Infantry Officer with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company located out of Camp Lejeune, NC. Following the terrorist attacks in September 2001, Chris was deployed several times to the Middle East during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After 10 years in the US Marines, he decided to hang up his combat boots. He now works for Bank of America as a Systems Engineer. Aside from being called "Marine", Chris is also called "Dad" by his 17-year old daughter, Stephanie. She lives in Ohio with her mother but loves coming to visit Chris and Heather several times a year. Both Chris and Stephanie are excited to welcome Heather to their family.

Heather was born and raised in Cary, North Carolina by parents who are NC natives themselves. She was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by extended family and lots of friends. She stayed close to home for college, graduating from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. While in college, she studied abroad in London, England where her love of travel was solidified. Professionally, Heather has held a number of marketing and business development positions in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Washington, D.C. She's been in Charlotte for the past six years and loves cheering on the Carolina Panthers. She knew early on Chris was special and their relationship was like nothing she'd ever experienced before. Her family has welcomed Chris and Stephanie with open arms.
