We met the old fashioned way...an online dating app! Heather was close to deleting the app as she was getting frustrated with her matches. Luckily she continued and found Steve. Steve reached out first and we continued to exchange messages for a couple weeks before talking on the phone. We set up the first date and on January 14, 2017 we met for the first time. We had dinner at Sangarita’s in Bayside followed by drinks at Maggie Mays. From then on, we talked everyday and “officially” became a couple 2 weeks later.
It was Columbus Day weekend and we were heading up to the Berkshires for a weekend away with Steve’s daughter Charlotte. On the way up to the Berkshires, we stopped at a park in Connecticut called Lovers Leap Park. The three of us walked the trail to the top of the park overlooking the Housatonic River. We were taking in the view and Steve was standing behind Heather. He said, “hey” and when Heather turned around, Steve was on one knee with an engagement ring and asked, “will you marry me?” After catching her breath, Heather said yes!! Steve managed to completely surprise Heather (and Charlotte) with the proposal! It was especially meaningful to have Charlotte there for the proposal and she quickly went into wedding planner mode. 😊
