One of our favorite water activities in Austin is kayaking! It's a great way to see the Austin skyline and Lady Bird lake. They also offer stand up paddle boarding if you'd like to try that instead.
If you enjoy being outdoors and are looking for a fun place to hike and relax this is the spot! We suggest starting the trail at Zilker park (another popular Austin spot). There are many entrances, this location will lead you to the flats. We suggest wearing a swimsuit if it's warm outside so you can cool off in the creek pools!
A fun street full of local boutiques, murals, and restaurants. South Austin is our home and we love the personality it has. We highly recommend eating at Home Slice Pizza if you're on the street or listening to some live music with a taco in hand at Guero's Taco Bar outdoors!
A unique outdoor bar that has pickle ball courts and food trucks on the popular South Lamar Blvd. Bouldin Acres is one of our go to weekend spots to enjoy the sunny Austin weather with friends!
If you want real Texas BBQ here's the place for you! The Black family are 3rd generation pit masters and brought their famous Lockhart BBQ to Austin.
You may know Texas' fast food burger to be Whataburger, but in Austin it's P. Terry's. One of our favorite fast and fresh burger places to go to, they're open late so a perfect snack after a fun time downtown.
Looking for some amazing Austin craft breweries? East Austin is home to many, Zilker being one of our favorites. Their location is prime with many restaurants, breweries, and bars all around to explore!
Fall means football season! If you're looking for a fun sports bar Lavaca Street is a great place to go. They'll have multiple games on, but it is a Wisconsin bar that can be crowded during their game time. This bar happens to also be right next to our venue!
On Rainey you'll find old houses that have been converted to bars with food truck's parked here as well! We met many of our Austin friends playing cornhole at Bungalow. And if you're in the mood for some tequila then Bar Ilegal at Clive is a must. These dog friendly bars also make it the perfect day drinking spot!
If you're looking for a vibrant night out Dirty Sixth is the place to visit. Different types of bars line the street and on the weekends they'll even shut down the road from traffic. It's an experience that you'll truly never forget!
Austin's hill country is home to many wineries. If you're looking for some local wine and want to stay in the city Austin Winery is our recommendation. It's located in the up and coming area called The Yard, which is home to a distillery, breweries, and food trucks.
Easy Tiger was a spot we found on one of our first trips to Austin. They have expanded and now have a few locations, the South and East side being the closest to downtown. They are a popular Austin bakery and beer garden. They make fresh bread, pastries, sandwiches, and many Austin restaurants will use their bread as well because it's that good! Our favorite item on the menu is the soft pretzel and beer cheese.
With 200+ beers on tap, 20+ homemade sausages, and a live music stage on the popular Rainey Street, Banger's is a must try place. They sell out fast and can have a long wait time if you're trying to go for dinner or brunch so we suggest going at an off time, or putting your name in and grabbing a drink at a bar next door while you wait.
Through a walk-up window at the Line Hotel you'll find this delicious taco stand. Breakfast tacos are a must when visiting Texas and Veracruz All Natural is one of the best in downtown. There's food trucks all over Austin that offer amazing breakfast tacos so check them out too!
New to South Austin is Armadillo Den! It's fairly south of the city (20 minutes or so), but if you want to see where the locals go for a causal drink and live music we recommend venturing out. With food trucks and a few other bars next door you can easily make an afternoon out here. If it's a sunny Saturday afternoon there's a good chance you'll find us out here.
