After a week of getting to know each other online, we met up at my Lake Grove apartment where I was living with my roommate, Michele. He came over, we hugged and my first words to him were "You smell so good". After I gave the grand tour and some small talk, we decided to find a movie to watch on Netflix. Halfway through the movie, I had to pick up Michele from the train. I asked if he wanted to tag along. On the way to Ronkonkoma train station, I grabbed his hand and held it for the remainder of the car ride. We did not acknowledge the first move I made but hey, it got us to where we are today.
After a wonderful birthday morning waking up to Richie with Roses in hand and a package of Lox...we started getting ready to head over to my mom and dad's house for an early dinner but first, Liz had orchestrated a birthday car parade of my closest work friends from Millneck's Cafe! That was such a surprise...but not the only one! We had a lovely dinner with my mom and dad, and of course the birthday cake- FUNFETTI, with FUNFETTI FROSTING!! We opened up a zoom meeting with Ali & Jen so they could watch me blow the candles out with my mom's creative COVID-FREE blowing candles screen protector over the cake. Once I got ready to blow them out, Richie told me to close my eyes and make a wish, and so I did...once I blew out the candles, I looked over to my right where Richie was...on his knee...I immediately started crying and looked away...after regaining my composure, I looked back at him and he signed "Heather, I love you...will you marry me?" Of course, I said YES!!
