Things To Do

While there are tons of things to do in Maui, here are some of our favorites!! Contact us for other ideas or with any questions.

Hana Highway

Hana Highway, Hana, HI

We highly recommend it if you have some extra time on the island - it's my favorite Maui activity! The drive along Hwy 36 takes at least 3 hours from Lahaina but plan to take all day. Remember, the drive is about the journey, not the destination. Along the scenic, windy roads there are plenty of waterfalls and hikes to choose from - walk around the little town of Paia, visit (or jump off) a waterfall at Twin Falls, walk around the magical Garden of Eden botanical gardens, take in the lush rainforests, stop for tropical fruit, fresh fish tacos or baked coconut chips, visit the hidden black and red sand beaches and explore all the beauty Maui has to offer. We recommend doing some research before taking off on the journey! Download the Road to Hana app, or purchase a CD tour at any local ABC Store, it won’t be the same experience without it and make sure to check the weather before you go. The roads are not for the faint of heart but I have never had any issues. Don't miss it!

Kapalua Coastal Trail

Kapalua Coastal Trail, Lahaina, HI 96761

Our favorite walk in Maui - park next to Merrimans Restaurant in the public lot and walk along Kapalua Bay, the Montage and the beautiful ocean cliffs! The views are beautiful, there are great photos opportunities and tons of turtles in the water! If you are staying at the Kapalua Bay Villas the trail goes right in front of the villas. Bring a light jacket it is known to get some sprinkles in this area.

Napili Bay

HI 96761

Our favorite little bay in Maui where Peter proposed <3. Also, one of our favorite spots to stay as most hotels are feet from the water (we usually stay at Napili Shores for it's proximity to the water and relaxed nature). We like to snorkel and swim here and the sunsets are beautiful.

Honolua Bay

HI 96761

Ready for an adventure? Go check out Honolua Bay. Walk through a jungle, visit with baby chicks, swing on the vines and take your snorkel gear to go snorkeling in this pretty little bay.

Black Rock in front of the Sheraton Ka’anapali

2605 Kaanapali Pkwy, Lahaina, CA 96761

“Black Rock” is a great spot for snorkeling, cliff diving and swimming. Located in front of the Sheraton Kaanapali - snorkel gear is available for rent.

Front Street

Front Street, Lahaina, HI

Lahaina has over a thousand years of rich history, and was the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii from 1820 to 1845. From beaches to restaurants, Lahaina has some of the best attractions Maui has to offer. Enjoy a relaxing stroll, and if rest is needed, take a break under the massive Banyan tree located in the town square. Lahaina's Front Street has been ranked one of the "Top Ten Greatest Streets in America". There are dozens of local stores, bars, and restaurants. Fun fact: Lahaina has the most art galleries per square mile in the world.

Haleakalā National Park Summit Entrance

Haleakala Highway, Kula, HI 96790

Hike up it or go on a biking excursion down the volcano

Mendes Ranch and Trail Rides, Inc.

3530 Kahekili Highway, Wailuku, HI 96793
, (808) 871-5222

The best horseback ride I have ever done. Throughout a beautiful ranch with views of the ocean. They also give you the option to run your horse. All levels!

Iao Valley

HI 96793

A great hiking spot! Very lush and green. Bring a raincoat just in case!

Trilogy Excursions

Lahaina, HI 96761
, (808) 874-5649

Great catamaran excursion company - we did the day trip to Lanai and loved it.

Mama's Fish House

799 Poho Place, Paia, HI 96779
, (808) 579-8488

For a special night out! If you're going to splurge on one meal on this beautiful island, let it be at the very special Mama's Fish House. With it's picturesque setting and amazing food selection including fish freshly caught that day, you will be happy you visited this place! Despite it’s unbelievable setting and charm, it is pricey. We suggest doing lunch there as we feel both the view is best and prices are more affordable than at dinner. Call and make a reservation in advance of your trip, and ask for a table with a view (most 2 or 4 seat tables have views). Leave time before and after to enjoy the grounds and take it all in. One of our best memories and favorite meals!

Merrimans Kapalua

1 Bay Club Place, Lahaina, HI 96761

Our favorite dinner and happy hour spot! Beautiful views of Kapalua bay, a beautiful patio, live music and amazing food! The mai-tais are delicious.

Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop

820 Olowalu Village Road, Lahaina, HI 96761
, (808) 662-3600

Visit for home cooked food and delicious pies! A great lunch spot.

The Gazebo (Restaurant)

5315 Lower Honoapiilani Road, Lahaina, HI 96761
, (808) 669-5621

For a casual breakfast with a view! We recommend the macadamia pancakes and omelettes. Tucked away at the back of Napili Shores, a small resort built in the 1960's, it’s suggested you use GPS to find it. There’s plenty of street parking. Once parked, look for pathway signs that guide you to the Gazebo Restaurant. We suggest getting there early before they open (between 7:00am-7:30am). A line starts forming around then, and the restaurant only sits about 30 people. They move people in and out quick, and there’s coffee and umbrellas (if needed) available while you wait in line. Keep an eye out for whales while in line!

Hula Grill

2435 Kaanapali Parkway, Lahaina, HI 96761
, (808) 667-6636

Lunch spot with a view and great people watching - located right on Kaanapali beach next to Whalers Village.

Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice

790 Front Street, Lahaina, HI 96761
, (808) 877-3700

Costco Wholesale

540 Haleakala Highway, Kahului, HI 96732
, (808) 877-5241

Near the airport - we like to stop at Costco after we arrive to load up on breakfast items, snacks, wine and beer! A great spot for chocolate covered macadamia nuts and fresh pineapple!

For all the days along the way
