On July 11, 2016, Matt and Heather both stood in line to check-in for their first day of work at Amazon. Heather turned around to say hello to the man behind her, and little did she know that this introduction would change her life forever. The two sat at the same table for training the whole time. The rest is history. For the next six years, Heather and Matt survived a lot- grueling days at work, the stress of Heather getting a part-time MBA at UW, living through wildfires and a global pandemic, 5 heartbreaking seasons of Michigan football (with one glorious payoff), and raising a crazy puppy. In February 2022, Heather and Matt went on a trip to the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is a special hotel for Heather because this is a place she often visited with her family during big chapters in her life- before she started high school, before she went to UCLA, before moving to Seattle, when she found out she was lactose intolerant... truly life-changing events. Before dinner, Matt wanted to go take a picture since they were all dressed-up to go out to a nice restaurant. Matt found a random husband and wife to take their picture. When Matt handed this poor lady the phone, he said, "I am about to propose so just keep taking some good photos, ok?" Obviously, no pressure! Matt turned to Heather and inhaled, ready with a whole long, beautiful speech prepared, but.... he got too nervous and just went down on one knee and blurted out "Will you marry me?!"
