Heather and her good friend Abby took a spontaneous trip down to Charleston, South Carolina for their spring break in 2018. They had never been there before, so they literally googled "bars to go to in Charleston" and stumbled upon Red's Ice House, right on the bay. Heather and Abby were enjoying some drinks on the main level of the bar, right by the steep stairs leading to the rooftop bar. And just as if destiny was called, Matt stumbled (not joking here, actually took a stumble down those steep stairs-he claims they were "very worn down", I claim differently) down the stairs from the rooftop bar. Promptly, as any one would, Heather started laughing at the boy. Matt quickly catches himself, sees Heather laughing and exclaims "no one else saw that right?!" Little did Heather know, that was not the last she would see of this stumbling boy as he came over to them 10 minutes later, this time with an Australian man by his side. Matt proceeded to tell Heather that he was down in Charleston for his best friend Hannah's wedding, and this Australian man Luke was the groom! They then invited Heather & Abby to come join the bridal party (again literal party) on the rooftop bar. Here is where the tequila shots were strong & plenty and before long Heather & Matt had each other's phone numbers and have not stopped talking since. Fast forward 3 years, Heather & Matt took a trip back down to Charleston (yes it is our favorite place now) in August 2021. On August 3rd, Matt booked a dinner cruise around the Charleston Harbor. It was here that Heather started to notice that Matt was a little nervous and wasn't really touching his food (anyone that knows Matt knows this is SO unlike him). We went to go take a picture on the cruise, when all of a sudden Matt is down on one knee. (To which Heather exclaims "what the fuck" and Matt goes "is that a yes" *cue the yes from Heather in between sobs*) Started forever in the place where it all began, it truly was love at first fall.
