Mack: I started working at a bar in Hollywood while I lived in Long Beach called 33 taps. The first day when I was training, I went up to Heather to introduce myself, and she said "Oh, I thought you were going to be a girl because your name is Mackenzie." - from there, the best love story in the world started. Heather: I saw his name on the roster, so I initially thought there was another new girl working with us (because of his name of course). Little did I know, I'd be meeting the love of my life. We were coworkers/friends for about a year before we actually started dating. Mack would always come up to me while I was folding silverware and talk to me about books he's read and if I had ever heard of this or of that. We would always go out with friends and would even talk to each other about who we were dating. I had a feeling he had a crush on me, but wasn't sure lol. We started going out together more, and he would ask me to drop him off home from work. One night he got us lost on purpose driving through the Hollywood Hills as I was taking him home. Once we finally made it to his place, our first kiss happened, and we never stopped hanging out since. :)

It was our third day in Portugal, but our first full day in Porto to be exact. We slept in that day because we were so tired from traveling. I remember feeling flustered and disappointed because we slept in - I didn't want to feel like we wasted time that we could have had exploring the town or whatnot. As I was getting ready, I asked Mack to set up and test out the new tripod we had brought with us. Our Airbnb had the most beautiful view from our balcony, so he set it up to take photos on our balcony. I saw that he also had it on video sometimes, so I thought he was just recording the scenery as well. When I was finally ready for the day and ready to take some pics, I headed towards the balcony. I noticed my phone that was set up was on video and recording, so I said to Mack, "It's on video!". As I was on the balcony getting my pose on for photos, I thought Mack put it on picture-taking mode, but he actually put it back to video mode. Our tripod had a clicker to take photos, so as I'm posing for photos and thinking that Mack is clicking to take pics, all of a sudden, he goes down one knee, and says, "Heather Castillo, will you marry me?" I was in shock of course, and said, "Are you serious?" lol. He says, "Yes", and I say "YES" then we hug and I cry my eyeballs out for the next two or so hours. I love that he caught that moment on video without me knowing it.

To our friends and family - we thank you so much for your love and support from the beginning! We have friends who have known us since we were "just friends" & family who took us in with so much love and care since we were dating. We love going through old photos and videos reminiscing about all the good times we've had with everyone, and we can't wait to build more memories with you all as we enter this new chapter in our lives. <3
