Things To Do

Madison is chock-full of things to do besides going to college, joining an improv troupe and meeting the love of your life. Here are a few of them.

Dane County Farmers' Market

20 East Mifflin Street, Madison, WI 53703

Farmers' Market season will be winding to a close, but there's still time to snag a roll of Stella's Spicy Cheese Bread on Saturday from 6:15 am to 1:45 pm. While you're on the Capitol Square, stop by Heather's favorite coffee roaster from Viroqua, WI, Wonderstate Coffee.

Memorial Union Terrace

800 Langdon Street, Madison, WI 53703

Enjoy a pitcher of Spotted Cow, a scoop of Babcock Dairy's Orange Custard Chocolate Chip and a lovely view of Lake Mendota. Possibly the best place in the world.

State Street

State Street, Madison, WI

Madison's famous car-free thoroughfare looks pretty different than it did when Heather and Joel went on their first date at Kabul Restaurant (RIP), but it's still a nice place to spend an afternoon. Favorite spots include B-Side Records, Fair Trade Coffee House, Los Gemelos and Paul's Pel'meni.

Chazen Museum of Art

800 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53706

UW's excellent (and free!) art museum. Warning: NSFW goat sculpture.

Henry Vilas Zoo

702 South Randall Avenue, Madison, WI 53715

Take the kiddos to see a red panda (Heather's favorite) or golden lion tamarin (Joel's favorite). Also free!

A Room of One’s Own

2717 Atwood Avenue, Madison, WI 53704

Heather and Joel both enjoy buying books and even reading them sometimes. This is one of their favorite places to partake in that beloved pastime.
