The Queen Mary is having financial trouble. If you saw the articles in the newspaper you know that they owe hundreds of thousands of dollars to the cities of Long Beach and Pasadena. We do not know if that is the reason they canceled our event or not. They claimed it was lack of guidance from the state and that they canceled all events through August, but we heard from another bride that they also canceled her wedding in September. The Queen Mary did not offer to rebook us. They did say that they would refund what we had paid, but we have not received the refund yet.
The Queen Mary did not offer to rebook our wedding. We left several messages and sent several emails asking whether it would be possible to pick another date, but we never heard back from them. Their handling of this situation has been troublesome at best. The director notified us that the wedding was canceled in an email titled, "Queen Mary News," as if they were informing us that they planned to update the drapes. There were no condolences, apologies, or offers to rebook. Despite that, we would still like to "marry" there, if possible. It was a perfect location for us and we were really looking forward to enjoying the live jazz band on the open deck overlooking the place we first met. Additionally, it is unclear when we would be able to hold a large gathering of 65 people. CDC guidelines recommend against having gatherings greater than 50 people until a vaccine is widely available. Other guidelines are stricter.
Yes, absolutely! If you would like us to return your wedding gift, please do not be embarrassed to ask! We completely understand that this has been a challenging time.
