Montgomery Hall (left) and Scott Hall (right), 1892
105 Seminary Road, San Anselmo
The San Francisco Theological Seminary was founded in 1871 and made home on a 14-acre hilltop (later named Seminary Hill) in Marin in 1891.
Scott Hall & Montgomery Hall were designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque-style and constructed in 1892. Other well known examples of this architecture style developed by H.H Richardson, include the Trinity Church in Boston, Massachusetts. These 150 year old buildings are architecturally and historically significant landmarks to the town of San Anselmo. To complete the "castles on the hill", a third building was constructed in 1952. Geneva Hall's neo-Gothic design was influenced by the 13th century Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Italy.
