We're getting married!

We met through the dating app Hinge. Alex drove down from Williamsburg, VA to meet Heather in Richmond for dinner at a local Thai food restaurant. The chemistry was undeniable! Alex made a few more trips to see Heather in Richmond before a relationship started to bloom. Through adventures in Williamsburg and Richmond the two's relationship became stronger and stronger. After a couple months of dating Alex found out he'd be deployed in July 2022 on the USS George HW Bush. Throughout the 9 month deployment we kept in touch through phone calls, emails, and FaceTime. Heather was able to meet Alex in Athens, Greece at a port visit as well during his deployment. After Alex's homecoming we were planning to move in together near where he is stationed in Norfolk. Heather unfortunately suffered a back injury before starting the process of moving in together. Through that time Alex supported her and helped in any way he could pre and post-back surgery. Shortly after sharing our first apartment together in Virginia Beach we planned a trip to Disney World and Universal Studios in January 2024. Alex knew Disney World held special memories to Heather having visited her grandparents there as a child growing up. This trip was where Alex proposed at The Palm restaurant! Soon after the engagement we knew we had to enter into the Brecknock Veteran's Day wedding giveback that is held every year on Veteran's Day in Alex's hometown where he grew up in Long Island, NY. The idea of this wedding was something we had been talking about entering into ever since our relationship had started to become serious. When we found out we won the wedding through a surprise announcement with our close family present we were overwhelmed with emotion of our dreams of it finally happening! We now live in Norfolk with our sweet golden retriever Willow on the Chesapeake Bay and are very close to the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek where Alex has been newly stationed.
