We are both excited to invite our families and friends to celebrate the latest chapter in the ongoing saga of our relarionship.
Heather and Tory met on the playground in grade school. They don’t remember the exact time they met each other because everyone grew up already knowing who was who and in what class. They remained friends throughout high school and lost touch after Tory graduated (2006). They re-met 5 years later through mutual friends and were both surprised that little had changed when reunited in Sacramento in their early twenties. After graduating from Sac State (2013), Heather moved to San Diego. Soon after, Tory moved to Colorado. Their friendship continued to grow and was maintained across varying distances and life situations over the following years. In 2017, Heather moved backed to Stockton and Tory just so happened to be visiting. After a night hanging out with close friends in San Jose, Tory and Heather found something more meaningful in one another. Love was never in question between the two of them. They loved each other in the way all friends love one another. But this time was different. It was an expansion of that love. They spent the next 14 months long distance as Tory lived in Oklahoma at the time. February 2019, Tory moved back to Sacramento, CA and they haven’t been apart since.
December 4, 2021. Heather and Tory asked a friend to take pictures for their holiday card. Little did Heather know there would be a surprise at the end of it. Tired, cold, and needing to expel a full bladder, Heather walked onto a rose petal walkway leading to a romantically lit gazebo at the Davis Arboretum. Heather had no idea it was for her until Tory took her hand and they began dancing to their song “Our Day Will Come” sung by Amy Winehouse. He got down on one knee and shocked Heather to the core with the most enchanting ring. It was so beautiful it took her off guard and she didn’t actually answer him for another 5 seconds. When she realized she hadn’t said anything, she screamed at him, “Yes! Of Course!” Tory had also arranged for family and friends to surprise Heather at the gazebo to share in the excitement. Going on over 20 years of friendship and the last 6 years head over heels for one another, Heather and Tory are looking forward to joining their houses and spending the rest of forever together.
