We met on Hinge (yay dating amidst a pandemic!) for happy hour sushi on Januray 2, 2021. Heath had sangria waiting when Kass arrived, impressing her from the get go! They connected instantly, both already knowing this was going to go on for a second date. Heath had to work early the next morning and Kass was watching her nieces and nephews so the night ended early, but not before Sake Bombs were had, now becoming the anniversary drink of choice! They met back up the following week, but this time for a homemade meal at Heath's, which anyone who knows Heath's cooking knows after this it was history!

Heath has a wonderful habit of booking spur of the moment trips whenever he's on night rotations, which in this case really worked out in Kass' favor! Heath figured out he had an entire three nights off for New Years, so figured might as well go to the Bahamas, right?! Now this was the one year anniversary, so a little thought was there, but with a vacation planned for Italy a few months later, Kass did not at all expect the surprise ahead. The first night there, Heath convinced Kass to go down to the beach early before dinner at 6pm to watch the sunset. Little did she know, dinner was actually at 7:30 and Heath had hired a photographer for a little surprise. After Heath being really stubborn of needing to walk out on this specific pier, it all made more sense when he dropped down on one knee and popped the question! Kass said yes and NYE in the Bahamas became even more of a celebration!
