Barrow Food House
We discovered this little hidden gem during the quarantine/pandemic and oh my goodness is it good! Shelby gets one of their mushroom black bean burgers for lunch at least once every two weeks!
Braun's Seafood Grill
If you're craving seafood this is the spot! Quick and casual Braun's Grill is a great spot to grab a quick bite and eat outside at the picnic tables! If you're a lobster roll gal or guy, be sure to get one here, it's one of the best on the North Fork!
Cupsogue Beach County Park
Shelby's home beach. One of the best public beaches out east (because south shore beaches are forever better than north shore beaches)! A great spot to take a walk, jump in the ocean or if you're lucky spot a dolphin or a seal!
Elizabeth A Morton Wildlife Refuge
One of those special places! The Preserve is around the corner from Brad's family's home in Sag Harbor and was a staple in his childhood. Grab a bag of unsalted sunflower seeds and take a walk through the preserve enjoying the quiet scenery and if you're brave enough hold out a handful of sunflower seeds and stay super still and a few birds may eat right out of your hands!
Haiku Sushi
This is where we went on our first date and is one of our favorite sushi spots! We regularly have a date day and get sushi and go to the aquarium. P.S. If you still have room for dessert after the sushi, get the deep fried cheesecake! Brad doesn't even like cheesecake and loves this!
Jamesport Farm Brewery
Brad's favorite brewery and Shelby's favorite cider spot. This is a great place for relaxing outside with a glass of beer/cider! P.S. Try the Prancing Pony and Twisted Little Sister—Brad's two favorites!
Lavender By the Bay
One of the best things about June on Long Island is that the lavender is in bloom! Lavender by The Bay is one of the most picturesque spots on the North Fork! They open their fields of lavender to the public during the bloom and its one of the most Instagrammed spots out here! Worth checking out if the bloom is at its peak!
Lieb Cellars Tasting Room
We're a little biased (as Shelby's Dad makes the wine) but this place is great! The wine is delicious, the staff is amazing, and you can't beat the view! P.S. Be sure to try the sparkling rosé and the pinot blanc!
Little Creek Oyster Farm & Market
One of our favorite spots in Greenport! Get a dozen shucked for you to enjoy as you try your hand at shucking your own! Seating is limited but its worth the wait! P.S. They have one of Shelby's favorite Aperol spritz on the North Fork!
Main Road Biscuit
As you may know Shelby has a limited diet (think no gluten, dairy, red meat or poultry) but these biscuits are too good to miss (and for whatever reason don't make her sick)! They do an amazing breakfast and are one of those spots we love to bring people when they are in town. If nothing else, get the biscuit sampler to-go, you won't regret it!
Magic Fountain
The fastest way to either of our hearts is ice cream and we are lucky enough to live by one of the best top rated ice cream shops in the country (that's actually true)! Magic Fountain's homemade ice cream is delicious and a must while you're here! Brad's Favorites are Salted Caramel and Chocolate Pudding Pie!
Mashomack Preserve
If you're heading over to Shelter Island for the day this is one spot you don't want to miss! Mashomack Perserve has a number of walking/hiking trails of differing lengths that let you explore and offering beautiful views of Shelter Island and both the North and South Forks!
Mattitaco
Stop in for a few tacos and say hi to Justin! The tacos here can be a little unusual, they aren't your classics but thats what makes them so great! P.S. Brads favorite is the Land & Sea and Shelby loves the Bang Bang Shrimp!
North Fork Roasting Co.
The BEST coffee on the North Fork and the cutest little coffee shop! Shelby & Brad used to live around the corner and this was a regular weekend coffee/breakfast spot! They also offer a great casual breakfast menu! Shelby loves the acai bowl & Brad can't get enough of the duck egg sandwich and the Bee Sting!
Opties and Dinghies
If there ever was a hidden gem this is it! An eclectic casual spot tucked into historic downtown Orient, this little restaurants menu features, crepes, asian specials, the BEST lemonade, and gelato. Its an unexpected menu combination but it works and no only works but is delicious. Shelby loves this spot and is forever wishing it was closer!
Orient Point County Park
All the way (literally) at the end of the North Fork there is a little pull off to the left just before you pull into the ferry parking lot. This walking trail takes you out to the South, along the shore and to the east most point of the North Fork. We've spotted seals here and on a clear day you can see straight across to Connecticut. It's a short walk but a nice excuse to take the drive out to Orient and enjoy the drive!
Pattys Berries and Bunches
June is strawberry season on the NF and there is no better spot to go berry picking than Patty's! Shelby's been berry picking here for years and it never disappoints. Plus they have some of the best sunflower and wildflower bouquets!
Riverhead Aquarium
We love the aquarium! It should surprise no one that Brad can't pass an aquarium without going in to look at the fish and we know every fish in this place! P.S. Bee sure to checkout the sea turtles they are rehabilitating, sea turtles are Shelby's favorite aquatic animal!
Sparkling Pointe
If you love bubbly (and who doesn't this is the place to go! They make only methode champanoise sparkling wines and they are all delicious! Plus Shelby & Brad used to live around the corner. P.S. The Brut Seduction is our favorite!
Suhru Wines
The cutest little Tasting House on the North Fork!! Suhru is Shelby's family winery and is home of some pretty delicious wine! Suhru makes a sparkling brut, crisp, bright, stainless steel fermented white & rosé wines, and medium-bodied, soft tannin red wines. 100% worth a stop in! Open Thursday - Monday from 12noon - 6pm
Turkuaz Grill
One of the things Brad & Shelby miss most about not living in Brooklyn anymore is the food! While there are lots of great restaurant options out here, a wide variety of ethnic foods is lacking which is one of the many reasons we love Turkuaz! This delicious Mediterranean restaurant has amazing kebobs & gyros and is another amazing lemonade spot plus the backyard overlooks the Riverhead waterfront!
Village of Greenport
The cutest little town on the North Fork, Greenport is where is all happens! Take a stroll through Main Street, stop in at one of the great restaurants, do some window shopping and be sure to explore the waterfront and the docks (where we shared our first kiss)!
