At the beginning of 2022, James and I matched on the app Bumble. If you don't know, James absolutely hates pictures and videos and, for most of his life, avoided them at all costs. So when I came across his profile with only one picture, he was wearing a jacket with a hood, and he was looking off to the side; I had no idea truly what he looked like. I do remember seeing three prompts, the last one saying "What I'm Looking For..." and his answer was "A true life partner." That one prompt made me swipe despite feeling like I knew nothing about this man. We began chatting on the app, and it wasn't too long after that he asked for my number. His submarine had just pulled back in port from his last deployment, so he wasn't going to have any free time for a few weeks to be able to meet. We texted every day and talked on the phone a few times. On our first date, we walked around the St. Johns Town Center, chatted about life, and grabbed lunch. After that, it was pretty much it for us both. I canceled any other dates I had planned, deleted my app, and spent almost every day these past few years with James. I took a chance on my swipe, and I am so glad I did. He is my forever honey bee ❤️
