“We met because a baby got thrown off a train!” That’s Mike’s go-to line. Technically true. Kind of. But the real story? Like all great millennial romances… we met on Tinder. In the summer of 2023, Mike was sent to Roanoke, Virginia for work. Hannah was living in Manassas, Virginia, bouncing between there and Virginia Tech’s campus in Blacksburg. One fateful day, driving between Blacksburg and Manassas, Hannah spotted a sign for an upcoming production of Bright Star – a musical by Steve Martin (of SNL/"Cheaper By The Dozen" fame), whose plot includes, you guessed it, a baby being thrown off a train. Intrigued, she bought a ticket to see it the next time she was passing through Roanoke. Flash forward to show night. Hannah rolls into Roanoke to enjoy some musical theatre. Mike, meanwhile, opens Tinder. Swipe, match, boom. The algorithm knew it was time. Three months of dating, and Mike had to move back to Cheshire, Connecticut. Cue the long-distance shuffle: weekend road trips, TSA pat-downs, airport snacks. When Hannah's job took a turn, we decided to make a big change: she’d look for work in Connecticut. Hannah made the move over Memorial Day weekend 2024, and we’ve been building our life together ever since.
