Question

What Do I need to go to and from Mexico?

Answer

*Passports and forms* Before you leave, make sure you have your passport handy and that it does not expire within 3 months after the wedding date! Before you land in sunny Cancun you will be given an immigration form. A customs officer will take the top half of the form but please MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE FORM. You will need it in order to leave the country.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

On the travel section of the site we're listing places we find as we go. options are available in all budgets. Anywhere along the beach in the Hotel Zone will be convenient. There is only one street in The Zona de Hotel/ beach area of Tulum. On one side of the street is the beach and the other is the jungle. The beachfront can only be accessed by walking through the hotels' property if you choose to stay on the jungle side you can go to the beach by paying a small beach club fee or buying a drink. The hotel zone of Tulum or Tulum beach is a different town than Tulum Ciudad. It's important to note that while the town of Tulum (Ciudad de Tulum) is generally a safe travel destination petty theft has been known to happen. and it is not super conveniently located, 30 mins away from the wedding.

Question

Do I need to have cash / pesos?

Answer

In Mexico cash is king! We highly recommend that you either get Pesos at your bank before you leave or exchange your USD at the airport. Tulum is a small town and the ATM's have been known to not always be in service. Some ATMs will only give you USD and not Pesos as well. You will find that you get better prices if you pay in cash and in Pesos. All of the restaurants, bars, tours, and hotels will have credit card machines but they will charge you a fee of 3-8%.

Question

How do we get around Tulum, Do we need a car?

Answer

Tulum is very small and traffic can be heavy. We highly recommend that you forgo renting a car if you can and opt for the shuttle or driver to and from the airport. If you do rent a car confirm with the hotel that they have a spot for you to park during your stay. The parking in Tulum is very tight and hard to come by. A great way to get around is by bike. Bikes will be available for rent at the hotels and everywhere you look. Tulum does not have Uber, however, there is no shortage of taxis! Taxis are pretty much always there when you need them and affordable (less than $10 USD will get you from one end of Tulum beach area to the other). Also, you can negotiate with the taxi driver. You will need cash for taxis. If you do rent a car be aware that the prices online will show $4-$10 a day. This is the price of the car without insurance and additional fees. The actual price will become clear at the rental counter the pricing is about the same as the US around $20-$50 per day.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Yes, For the day of the wedding, we'll be sending shuttles to pick up at your prospective hotels. Please find your shuttle time at your hotel in the email we sent you. We're using a shuttle service so that you can have an easy experience and so everyone can be there on time. The traffic in Tulum is very heavy and this will make for the best overall experience.
