The beginning of this story is highly contested by both Alec and Hayward, but what is certain is that the two of them noticed each other and knew there was something special from the start. Opposing colleges and different hometowns were not going to keep these two separated for long. While they were both living in Houston, they would see each other out but when Alec bought Hayward a drink, it kick-started it all. One night, Alec asked Hayward on a date and she said no, but that didn't stop Alec. After a few more weeks Alec tried again, this time she said yes. Things picked up steam quickly and their third date was at the Astros’ ALCS Game 7 against the Yankees. As Altuve hit a walkoff to send the ‘Stros to the World Series, Alec thought to himself that Hayward would be so enamored that she would surely say yes to being his girlfriend. He was wrong. It would take a few more weeks, dates, and attempts before Alec finally won her heart over, and the two would never look back. Fast forward a bit, three years to be exact. Past the trips, changing their jobs and moving to Dallas to July 31st , 2022. Hayward and Alec were carrying on with what Hayward believed to be a typical Sunday. Church in the morning followed by a mandatory trip to Eatzis to pick up sandwiches for their weekly picnic and Bible study in the park. What Hayward didn’t know was that it would be the last time visiting the park with her boyfriend, instead he would be her fiancée.
