We met at a Kurt Cobain tribute gig at Backstage Bar & Billiards. Dominick's band was added last minute, and luckily they accepted. In the backstage parking lot, Dominick saw Stephy with her guitar and asked if her boyfriend was playing. When she responded that she was, and told him the songs she was playing, he was impressed. Stephy was glued while Dominick with his long curly hair, his red flannel, and ripped jeans took the stage with his acoustic guitar. Dominick stayed until 1:00 a.m. to see Stephy's band perform, and was equally drawn to the girl in the orange flannel playing the Fender Stratocaster. After exchanging Facebook information, they went their separate ways for a while, except when it came to concerts, and let the friendship begin over many beers and conversations about music.
After many beers at their favorite pub, and quoting the movie Singles from beginning to end, Stephy admitted loving Dominick. Luckily the feeling was mutual. And so began the actual being "official" thing, although much like a Monica and Chandler situation, was kept on the down-low from their friends so they could enjoy it without questions.
Stephy is a hard sleeper and a sleep talker. After a dream about Dominick cheating, an octopus bursting through the bar and being defeated by him and Stephy, only for him to run off with his boss in the end, Stephy woke up upset. She confided in Dominick that while she knew he loved her eternally, that nothing is set in stone. He could've walked away at any moment. Dominick excused himself to make coffee, and Stephy continued to ramble. He returned and slipped the promise ring that had been on her finger for 2 years off, replacing it with the engagement ring that once was on his Grandmother's hand. He told Stephy not to worry. With that, he popped the question. She said, "What?" And so he asked again. "What?" And again. "What? Is this real?" "The ring? Yes it was my Grandmother's!" "No! Is this really happening?" "Yes, and I'd kind of like an answer." "Ask me again!" "Will you please be my wife?" "YES!" Tears were shed. Hugs and kisses were exchanged. Stephy hopped on the phone with her Mum to tell her the good news, and as Dominick came in, she burst into tears again. "Aww. Are you happy, babe?" "I don't remember it!" "What...?" "I was asleep! I don't remember you asking me!" That day not only did Dominick get confirmation that he was going to marry the love of his life, but that he was also getting to marry someone who has full conversations while still being completely out of it. It was still a joyous day, but Dominick gets the joy of telling the engagement story.
