The Biltmore is an institution in Asheville. There are beautiful gardens, an amazing historical house, a winery, and numerous things to eat. You could spend the whole day easily so this would be a good pick if you want to stay for an extra day.
This is the oldest pawnshop in North Carolina and is one of Ron’s favorite places in Asheville. Haylley also found the 1940s vintage handbag that she’s bringing to the wedding at Finkelstein’s.
Lovely gardens, especially in May!
Cute tea shop with wonderful authentic teas. You get to sit on the ground, so wear comfy pants. :)
We’d highly recommend taking a quick spin on the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can hop on at Asheville and wind your way through the mountains. There are glorious views, and numerous hikes if that’s what you are looking for.
If you do go on the Blue Ridge Parkway and are looking for a driving destination, the Little Switzerland Inn is a beautiful inn perched on a mountain top. They have a restaurant that makes great food. Please check their website for restaurant hours - they are recovering from Hurricane Helene and their hours change.
The Mast General Store is one of Haylley and Lily’s favorite stops when visiting Asheville. Lily is in it for the old fashioned candy, and Haylley loves the silly tea towels. It is a good stop for small trinkets and things you didn’t know you really needed. ;-)
(UPDATED WITH THOSE THAT ARE OPEN) There are SOOO many breweries here! We will definitely sample some after the wedding reception, but if you need more, here are our favorites: - Wicked Weed - DSSOLVR - Hi-Wire - Highland Brewing - Botanist and Barrel (great ciders!) If you want to go farther afield, New Belgium has great tours and tastings but it is a hint of a drive.
