Haylie and Taylor met at a friends going-away party and didn't think much of it, as Haylie was a few years older than Taylor. Luckily, through mutual friends, they saw each other at get togethers more often and became close quickly. Although it took a few months to say it out loud, they both knew that they didn't want to be apart from one another. They finally made it official in October and never looked back!

For Haylie's 29th birthday, Taylor planned a surprise weekend away. The only thing Haylie was told, was what to pack. They drove to New Buffalo and stayed at a beautiful hotel with a view of the harbor. There were dozens of roses, chocolate covered strawberries, and champagne waiting in the room. At this point, Haylie thought there was a possibility of a proposal. Dinner reservations were made and they had the most romantic and fun night ever but, the night then ended and Haylie thought that maybe she was wrong about the proposal. The next day, they explored the town, stopping into all the small shops, climbing the rocks at the beach, and trying as many food and drink spots they could find. That's when Taylor had the idea of going back to the beach to watch the sunset. What Haylie didn't know, was that Taylor had been hiding his nervousness and carrying a ring in his pocket the entire day. They found the perfect spot on the sand hills, overlooking Lake Michigan, and Taylor knew it was the time. After having deep conversations and laughing about all of the things we've experienced together, he told Haylie he had one last surprise and asked her to close her eyes. When she opened them, Taylor was on one knee, asking her to be his wife. After the shock, and tears, Haylie said yes.

October 4th is already the most special date for us. It is the day we decided to officially become a couple. And now, the same date but 10 years later, it is the day that we will become husband and wife. We thank you all for coming to celebrate our decade of love.
