We met at a housewarming party in January of 2018. Haylie & Bri were having a girls night, when Bri DRAGGED Haylie to the party that she absolutely did not want to attend because she did not know a single soul there. Once in the door, Haylie & Bri proceeded to play some games and hang out with a large group of tall humans. Hunter and Haylie were drawn into a long conversation where they realized they had a lot in common, specifically a love for dogs, volleyball, and The Lion King. As the night was winding down, Bri and Haylie were saying their goodbyes and being peer-pressured to join the party as it made it's way downtown, to which they declined and did partial Irish goodbyes. While in the car on the way back to Bri's house, Hunter called Bri to convince the girls to join the party, but the girls held strong in wanting to go to bed. Finally, Hunter settled for Haylie's phone number, to which they messaged each other for the next couple days and decided to go on an official first date to an Iowa Men's Basketball game. While on the date, they enjoyed Buffalo Chicken Pizza and cheering for Iowa. When the game ended and both were headed to their cars, Haylie's nerves took over, she gave Hunter a quick hug and got in her car and drove off. They still laugh about this awkward moment today. During that winter/spring, they (Hunter, Haylie AND Nala) hung out more and more at volleyball tournaments and visiting each other in Marion and Muscatine. Both knew very early on, this was their forever.
