Oysters, hikes, explore Tomales Bay
One of our favorite spots, and the perfect place to post up on your drive up to Sea Ranch. Start with our favorite, "Tomales Point" hike for the best ocean views, After that, head to Cafe Reyes in Point Reyes for wood-fired pizza or the best local oysters, drinks, and sandwiches at Tony’s Seafood or the Marshall Store.
Sonoma Valley Wine Country
For wineries, we love Hamel and Scribe! Also heard great things about Flowers, Reeve, and Lioco for natural wine lovers. For food: Quail & Condor, Troubadour or Barndiva or SingleThread if you're going big.
Artsy, River, Redwoods, Pinots
If Healdsburg is classic wine country, Guerneville (30 minutes away) is its funkier, more laid-back stepsister, redwoods, river floats, vintage motels, and a solid lineup of dive bars. Spend the day hiking Armstrong Redwoods, floating the Russian River, or wine tasting in Sebastopol or Forestville.
Cliffs, wild beaches, Michelin eats
If you can, make time for a meal at the Harbor House Inn, a two-Michelin-star restaurant perched on the bluffs serving Cali & Japanese blend (res needed - the 5-course lunch is around $120/person). Up the coast and inland, you’ll find Anderson Valley, a low-key wine region known for Pinot, sparkling wine, and forested vineyards. The town of Mendocino itself is also a gem: a cliffside village full of Victorian buildings, artist galleries, and coastal trails.
