In March of 2018, Hayley was living in Gainesville and had planned a trip to Orlando to visit her friends Alex & Bri. They decided to go out for “wine down Wednesday” to meet all of Alex’s new medical school friends, and one of those friends was Jake. As the night progressed, there were only a few of us left at the bar, and Alex and her new boyfriend (now husband) went to walk Bri home, leaving the two of us by ourselves. We ended up hitting it off and couldn’t stop talking the rest of the night. Fast forward through a few months of texting and playing cat & mouse, we finally went on our first date by ourselves in July. We liked each other so much and saw potential, and even though we knew it wouldn’t be easy, we decided we wanted to try dating long distance. The next three years while Jake finished medical school were filled with MANY visits back and forth between Gainesville and Orlando, quarantining together in Gainesville for 7 months during the pandemic, and a lot of fun vacations. In the spring of 2021, Jake matched into surgical residency in Orlando. So, we (along with Hayley’s cat Neymar) then moved into an apartment together in Orlando that summer. Two years later, in August of 2023, Jake finally asked Hayley to spend forever with him! We are so excited to start this new chapter of our lives together, and we can’t wait to celebrate it with all of you in the city we both call our hometown!
