We actually met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. The app was usually just the normal swiping for the men. However, for the ladies the only men they had access to were men who had already viewed and liked their account. This particular week, they started a trial activity where they asked a daily question and we answered on video. Haylee was scrolling through those videos and came across Kwame's video. He answered the question of a favorite childhood memory. Haylee to this day has no idea what his answer was but she immediately liked his page. Kwame saw that she liked his page and wrote her telling her she was a maniac for running multiple half marathons. From there we started texting every day all throughout the day. It then moved to face time. We talked ALL THE TIME. A couple of months later we finally decided to meet in person and had our first date.
We both knew pretty early that we had something really special. A few months in we had pretty strong feelings for each other but we knew we weren't ready to say " I love you". We came up with alternate to say to each other to express our strong feelings towards each other. Kwame would say Mars and Haylee would say Moon. That was our way of expressing our feelings while also saving the "I love you" for when we were ready to nurture our commitment into more than just a feeling. We both understood that love is a verb and we saved those words for when we were ready.
