The story of Hayden and I is unique for a number of reasons. We didn't meet at a bar, on tinder, or at the local rally; we were the teenage dream that Katy Perry famously sang about circa 2011 CE. I remember standing on the football field at halftime, after having been named homecoming king and waiting to ascend to the throne and solidify power, Hayden's dad whispering to her "I think you may have won as well". Little did she know that she would be stuck with the goofball with face-paint and monarchical aspirations for 8 years. Those eight years were filled with ups and downs, just like any relationship, but through it all we stuck together and were made stronger by it. A few months after, we were off to Virginia Tech (she was accepted first). Our world expanded more than ever before. Relationships were dropping like flies. Taking the drunk bus from Pheasant run morphed into Tots, with a sprinkling of classes here and there. While all of this was happening Blacksburg was growing on us and we for each other. We left with a second home and an unbreakable resolve. After writing about how our relationship is unique it's also important to dwell on it's simplicity. A boy fell in love with a girl ( hopefully vice versa) and in the end that's all that really matters.
