When we both moved into our college apartments, we never thought our forever would be right next door. It was Hayden’s junior year and Katelynn’s sophomore year at Grand Valley State University, and we both lived with three of our friends. We all met one Saturday night while looking for something to do, and our friend groups instantly clicked. Everyone around us knew something was bound to come from this (both of our moms even called it before we could tell them we’d met someone). We quickly realized we wanted to hang out just the two of us, so we did just that. The rest is sweet and joyous history. Fast forward to July 11, 2025. We both had the day off work and woke up excited for the endless possibilities that a free day holds. When we got up, Hayden looked over at Katelynn and asked if she wanted to go on a walk with our sweet pup, Appa. Katelynn agreed (which was a shock to Hayden), and we headed out to the hiking trails behind our home. As we came to a split in the path, Hayden looked over at Katelynn and asked, “Do you want to race to see which trail is quicker?” Katelynn gave Hayden an are you serious? look, but agreed anyway. When we met back up on the trail, Hayden had tied a bandana around Appa’s neck that read, “Will you marry my dadas?” and he was down on one knee. Katelynn, of course, said yes, and tears flowed all the way home. So here we are! Preparing to get married surrounded by all of our favorite people. We are blessed beyond measure and cannot wait to start our forever with you all by our sides.
