Walking distance from the Drury Hotel and in the heart of downtown, your trip would be incomplete without at least swinging by Texas's most iconic building. It does not cost to get into the Alamo Church (main building) but you do need to reserve a ticket online. Once inside you are able to walk around the grounds. See 'Alamo Church Free Entry'. There are also guided tour options for our history buffs out there.
We highly recommended checking out the nightly light show put on in front of The San Fernando Cathedral. The cathedral is walking distance just on the opposite side of the main plaza from the Drury Hotel. Our families love the show. The light show runs 24 minutes and tells the story of the city's history. The show runs at 9:00pm and 9:30pm on Saturday night May 25th and is free.
Nearby charming neighborhood if you area looking to explore by foot. Walking distance from the Drury. Hayden and Alden got engaged here!
For those with a rental car for the weekend, Fredericksburg could make for an awesome day trip. Just over an hour outside of San Antonio, Fredericksburg and surrounding area is in the heart of hill country and home to many wineries. The city has a strong German heritage with many neat shops and restaurants along the main strip downtown.
A day trip to Austin on Saturday! An 80 minute drive north on I-35.
One of our favorite summer time activities during our time in the Tone. Most likely would need a rental car to get there but possible that an Uber would also work! It is about a 40 minute drive. The float itself can take 2-3 hours. The link provided is the company that we would usually rent tubes through but there are other options!
