How We Met

First Comes Arm Care, Then Comes Marriage

Tyler and Alexis both received scholarships to attend and play baseball/softball at Palm Beach Atlantic University. During the Spring of Alexis' Freshman year, Tyler first saw Alexis in the Athletic Training Room receiving treatment while he was performing his mandated arm care routine. A couple of mutual friends helped set the two up and on Sunday, February 26th, 2017 the couple went on their first date to a Florida Panthers hockey game. Tyler made it official on April 9th, 2017 by asking Alexis to be his girlfriend.

The Proposal

08.31.2019

During Labor Day weekend, Tyler and Alexis traveled north to meet Alexis' family for a weekend on the river. Marsha Brown had scheduled family pictures after a Saturday at the river. After coming off the river early, which never happens, everyone proceeded to get showered and dressed for the very inconvenient family pictures. As soon as everyone is ready to leave for the Corbett's river house, the picture site, it begins to rain. Nick leaves the house to "direct the photographer" while Alexis was trying to make everyone look presentable. The family and Tyler made their way, in the rain, to the Corbett's. While under the carport, Alexis had no idea that Tyler's family, Alexis' grandparents, and her best friends from home were upstairs waiting and watching out of the glass windows at the river house. Everyone waits out the rain for about 20 minutes and Alexis is getting ancy, recommending that we just reschedule. After all, humidity and curly hair don't make for good pictures! Marsha was adamant that pictures were happening and everyone walked to the site under umbrellas. Like a sign from God, the rain stopped and pictures began. After family pictures were taken, the photographer suggested that the couple should get some of themselves. After some smiling photos, the photographer said, "All right, now i'm going to count to three and I want you to do something different each time." After a few silly poses from Alexis, Tyler turned to her and pulled the ring out of his pocket. Out of total surprise and admiration, she said yes! A firework was set off by the crew waiting at the house and out came Tyler's family, Alexis' friends and grandparents, from the upstairs of the house. This magical moment was shared with the closest loved ones and pictures of this day can be found in the "Photos" section!
