It was the middle of Summer 2023. Acy had just graduated from UT Tyler & was looking for a job in Dallas while bartending in Tyler. Emily had recently moved to Dallas for work & was focusing on traveling. While meeting people online didn't seem like the best place to meet "the one", they were quickly proven wrong. After Acy sent his first message, Emily didn't respond. So Acy decided to send a second message to get her attention. After a few days of messaging, they met up for the first time on the 4th of July. Emily joined Acy & his friends for a pool day followed by dinner for two at Loro. That night at dinner, they sat on the patio & talked about everything. Their goals, families, values, & the things they wanted in a relationship. They realized they wanted and expected a lot of the same things from themselves & their partners. They talked until Acy had to head back home to Tyler but they couldn't wait to see each other again. He dropped Emily back off at home & gave her a goodnight kiss. Three days later, Acy took Emily on a date to the Dallas Museum of Art. They walked around & admired the art, laughing like kids making fun of the inappropriate sculptures & paintings. They walked around talking for so long that an announcement came over the intercom that they were closing. They were having so much fun enjoying each others company that they decided to go get some sushi & drinks to keep the night going. It didn't take but two dates for them to realize that they wanted to be with each other. That night after their second date, Acy asked Emily to be his girlfriend. That was the start of their long distance relationship. Acy selfless drove to Dallas multiple times a week (putting at least a thousand miles on his truck) to make sure they were able to spend time together in the early months of their relationship. Acy soon after moved into an apartment down the street from Emily & got a job at an insurance brokerage. They quickly became inseparable & spent every day together. The weekend after Thanksgiving, they headed to Fort Worth for a dinner reservation. They seated us on the outdoor rooftop balcony in front of the Fort Worth Skyline. Acy asked Emily to take some photos with him where he got down on one knee. He told her how much he loved her, how he knew she would be a great wife & great mother one day, & that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Of course she said yes! The best day of their lives! After some photos, dinner, and a bottle of champagne, they headed home. They walked in to music, champagne, & flowers, where a group of their friends and family were waiting to celebrate them. Acy had planned the most thoughtful night for the love of his life. We often say we think God made us specifically for each other. That we were soulmates & He worked in our lives to make sure we met at the right time. We are so thankful for God's plan! (& Bumble!)
