After speaking to each other online for almost 2 months, we met in person at Irreecha, an Oromo cultural thanksgiving event held in Washington DC. Meeting each other for the first time, it felt as though we have known each forever. It felt too easy the way we connected and the way our friends blended. After that weekend trip in DC, we knew we had something special going!
We flew to Tampa to celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends. On Saturday, I thought i was going out to eat dinner with my brother. When me and my aunt got to Ulele's restaurant, we were walking around and walked up to the outdoor roofttop place. When I opened the door, I saw him standing under a big sign that says "It was always you". When I turned to my right, I see all my family and friends from different places. I walked over to him in disbelief of how he actually pulled this off and joy that this day has finally come. Then he got on one knee and proposed, and i said YES!
