We met in Wilmington during Pride of 2022. It was completely by chance through mutual friends of mutual friends. We quickly became close friends after bonding over our love of video games and similar taste in music.

Haven and Erin planned proposals to each other on the same day, July 26th, by accident. Erin set up a romantic surprise proposal during dinner at Morgan’s in downtown New Bern. When the couple arrived at the restaurant, there was a table set with flowers, candles, and a poster of pictures of them throughout the years. Erin also surprised her with a special gift, a wooden keepsake box with a handmade ring dish inside, with the location of where they first met. A perfect place for Haven to put her new ring. Little did she know, Haven had a proposal planned for her after dinner that same night! Haven’s plan was almost thwarted by forgetting her phone and the unpredictable summer weather of eastern North Carolina. What began as a beautiful sunny evening turned into a torrential downpour, which changed the picturesque plan into a stressful situation. A pivot was made and the proposal instead took place underneath the portico of a storefront across from the original garden location. The rain stopped immediately after the question was popped, allowing them to take pictures in the very wet garden. It was a beautiful, comical, and perfect day the couple will never forget.
