The fall of 2014 was full of coffee and meetings for Brandon, with the occasional OkCupid notification to shake things up. After a week of no’s, Christopher’s profile came across his screen. In-app conversations began, then a number exchange, which eventually became a lunch date. Like most people exploring the depths of online dating, both were apprehensive. What if he doesn't show? What if he’s boring? What if I got catfished?! But in the end, both were pleasantly surprised. It was a dry month for Christopher so lunch commenced without liquid courage and the food was trash. The conversation was fun, so much so that they decided to continue it at Starbucks across the street resulting in a four-hour long first date that neither wanted to end. Fast forward three years, Christopher and Brandon have traveled the world, moved in together, added new fur babies to their lives and even purchased their first home together. For their third anniversary, they drove to Palm Springs for the weekend. Christopher expected a fun weekend with his boys, while Brandon had a grander gesture in mind. After a fancy dinner, with the pups at their feet, they proceeded back to their resort for a nightcap. It was a cool desert evening beneath a beautiful, star-studded sky. As the two sat on their cottage patio, nightcap in hand, Brandon turned to Christopher in a sudden and serious manner. His eyes welled up － super alarming as those who know B well know he’s not the emotional type － he shakily began, "Christopher, I love you so much and I have so much fun with you. I want this to be forever so I want to ask, will you marry me?" Christopher one-upped Brandon's gentle tears with sobbing and answered without hesitation, "Hell yes!" Now fast forward another year, after a global pandemic resulting in delayed nuptials, and we’re finally here. Anxiously awaiting the next chapter of this love story.
