Joe proposed to me on my birthday, August 4th, this last year, 2017. It was my 30th birthday and he gave me my gift, a rose gold necklace with a morganite stone and diamonds. After he put the necklace on me I turned around to him with a matching ring asking if I would marry him. I cried a little, asked him about 50 times if he was sure, and then of course said yes. Best birthday present ever.
This is my all time favorite story. Joe and I were both working for Papa John's. He worked in the Everett store as a general manager and I worked in Marysville as a driver. My store manager was also his supervisor and it was common for the stores to play pranks on each other. My boss decided to play a prank on me and it didn't go over so well, I got incredibly upset. So he decided to blame it on Joe, who I had seen for maybe one minute in passing before. The only logical thing to do when someone pranks you is to prank them back. We came up with the idea to make Joe think I was stalking him. This was a rather long prank, filled with random phone calls to him and visits to his store. It all culminated when my manager asked me to find a wedding dress and show up at his store when all the other managers were there. Since wedding dresses are not all that easy to come across I got the next best thing, baby bottles and jars of baby food. I walked into his store and in front of all the other store managers handed him a bag with the bottles and food. When he asked what it was for I told him "Don't worry about it, we will need it later". Side note, we did need those later and we used those bottles with Dexter. For whatever reason my bizarre behavior wasn't enough to scare Joe away and there was something about him that I liked. I invited him to hang out one day and we went to Howarth park and talked for two hours. Shortly after we had our first date, Coldstone ice cream and Half-Price Books. Despite not knowing whether or not I was still pranking him Joe kept hanging out with me and it wasn't too long before we became a couple and not too long before we found out I was pregnant with Dexter. After that we hit a few bumps in the road and our relationship took some unexpected turns, but we made it out on the other side and have built quite the life together. We are excited to finally tie the knot and continue on our journey together.
